Typical Activities offered through the club:

Regular Monthly Meetings

•The primary club event is monthly meetings, which are every third Thursday at 7 pm. Click here for meeting location.

• During our meetings we have a presenter who discusses or demonstrates a wide range of subjects such as:

Descriptions and locations of Fly Fishing opportunities including warm water and cold water species, primarily in Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia and North Carolina.
Fly Fishing equipment including the merits of different fly rod construction and fly lines.
How to make furled leaders and your own special purpose leaders.
Water craft for fly fishing.
Raffle member donated items such as flies. This is one of our fund raising activities.

Last Month's Presentation: Jerry Guinn demonstrated Fly Rod characteristic measurements at the July 16th meeting.

Additional Activities:

• Fly fishing training events such as our casting techniques (loaner rods can be provided), fly tying (tools and material are provided) and rod building classes (your purchase your own components).

• We maintain a library of fly fishing related books and maps as well as videos in both VHS tape and DVD formats. Subjects include fly fishing "how-to" subjects including fly tying, fishing locations, maps, entomology (study of insects). And good fiction books related to fly fishing or just fishing in general.

• Outings and Trips (i.e. Club sponsored fishing trips)
- Twice a year to the White and Norfolk Rivers in Arkansas and the Southern Conclave and Sow Bug Roundup.
- Local bass and trout outings.

• "Swap Meets" where fly fishing items are offered for sale or swap.

• In the fall, we have our Annual Banquet and Auction of fly fishing related items that follow our catered meal. The proceeds from these auctions is the major source for our club operating expenses.

• TVFF supports the Federation of Fly Fishers (FFF) by attendance of regional FFF events such as Southeastern council conclaves.

TVFF Purpose, Tenets, and Mission Statement

As they apply to local conditions, the purpose and mission of the TVFF Club follows the purpose statement of the Federation of Fly Fishers (FFF), of which, TVFF is an registered affiliated member. TVFF promotes these principals in all types of waters whither it is warm, cold or salt water fishing.

- Cultivate and advance the art, science and sport of fly fishing as the most sporting and enjoyable method of angling and the way of fishing most consistent with the preservation and use of game fish resources;

- Promote conservation of recreational resources;

- Facilitate and improve the knowledge of fly fishing;

- Elevate the standard of integrity, honor, and courtesy of anglers:

- Cherish the spirit of fellowship among anglers everywhere;

- Establish and maintain liaison with other organizations of anglers and conservationists and government agencies concerned with the sport of angling; and

- Keep its members informed of developments of interest to the membership.
